Nelson Anderson, deceased, was born near Christiana, Norway. He came to America in 1845 and settled in De Kalb
County, Ill., and in 1850 removed to Adams Township, La Salle County, where he resided till his death in 1864.
He was married to Ann Quam, who was born May 10, 1832, near Stavanger, Norway. She came to the United States in
1843 with her parents, settling in Mission Township, La Salle Co., Ill., where her father died, and her mother
has since resided with her son in Iowa, and is now in her eightyeventh year. Our subject’s father came to America
in 1846 and resided with him for many years. He died in Iowa several years ago. To Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were born
six children, of whom five are living— Sophia, wife of Alex. Halverson, of Adams Township; Linnie, married Edwin
Jobnson, of Leland, Ill., and lives in Iowa; Andrew, married Anna Void; John and Nelsie, at home. Andrew is a member
of the firm of Thompson & Anderson, grain merchants, of Leland. lie was Township Collector one year, and is
the present Supervisor of Adams Township. Our subject, Nelson Anderson, served his township as Assessor, and also
as Collector. He was an honest, upright citizen, and was highly respected by all who knew him.
