CONRAD ZIMMER (deceased) came to Blue Island in 1847 and followed agricultural pursuits seven years; he then
kept a general store at Homewood. Cook County. until 1862. when he removed his business to Dulton, where he did
a flourishing trade until he died, Oetoher 27, 1881. He was born in Hungen, Germany, December 22, 1833, and came
to America in 1847. December 22, 1861, he was married to Miss Catharine Neigel, born at Cassel, Germany, April
5. 1841. They had eight children, Elizabeth, born September 15, 1862; Anna M., born March 28, 1864; Wilhelmiua
C., born July 5, 1866: Emma C., born March 9. 1868: Marc C.. born November 14, 1869; Conrad F. D. and Bertha, born
July 1, 1874. and Henry J., born January 7, 1878. They nere members of the Lutheran Church. Mr. Zimmer served as
Postmaster eight years at Homewood, and fourteen years at Dolton.
