JOHN MURRAY, farmer, P. O. Palos, was born in Ireland in 1823, son of Michael and Reason Murray. He came to
America in 1840, and spent two years in Canada, after which he waa engaged for six years in teaming in Chicago.
Eight years were spent in the employ of the Stone & Lime Company of Lemont, following which, in 1857, he came
to Palos Township and engaged in farming and general stock raising upon hia present farm of 200 acres. In 1854
he was married to Miss Catharine Dillon. They have five children - James, Michael, John, Edward and Frances. His
wife dying in 1862, he was again married two years after to Mrs. Margret Camey. They are members of the Catholic
Church. Mr. Murray has been school director for seven years. His parents came to Cook County in 1843, and located
in Lemont Township. where they remained until their deaths, the father's in 1856, at the age of sixty, and the
mother's in 1866, at the age of sixty six.
