JOHN McMAHON, farmer, P. O. Worth, was born in Ireland in 1836, son of James and Margaret McMahon, He came to
New York in 1852, where he was engaged in farming, which pursuit he followed until 1857, when he removed to Cook
County, and engaged in she same occupation. He was married in 1864 to Miss Mary MeMahon, daughter of Patrick and
Mary McMahon, They have ten children - Daniel, Minnie, James, Margaret. Kittie, Johnnie Annie, Julia, Thomas and
Adelaide. Mr. MeMahon has been Assessor of Palos Township fourteen years, school trustee three years, and school
director six years. Mrs. McMahon's parents were early settlers of Cook County, first locating in Chicago, where
they resided thirteen years, then in Patos Township, where they were engaged in farming until the father's death,
in June, 1871, at the age of sixty six. The mother is living at the age of sixty eight years
