GEORGE J. LINTZ, farmer, P. 0. South Mount Forest, was born in Germany in 1816, son of Jacob and Mary Ann Lintz. He came to America with his parents in 1832, and in 1837 located in the township of Palos. He was engaged in the construction of the Illinois & Michigan Canal until 1840. after which he worked by the month until 1843, when he purchased the farm where he now resides, containing 294 acres. He was married in 1845 to Miss Louisa Adams, who died in 1854, leaving three children - Amelia, Emily and Julia, and he was married in 1856 to Miss Elizabeth Zeigler. Mr. Lintz hat been Commissioner of Palos Township for two terms, and school director for sixteen years.
