KIMBALL, DORR A. - Born at Dexter, Jefferson county, N. Y., in 1853. Son of John B. and Louisa M. Kimball. Father was born in Vermont, and mother was a native of Jefferson county, N. Y. Father was a judge for about eighteen years in Jefferson county, and died suddenly of paralysis. Subject of sketch received his education in his native town, and came to Chicago in 1865, where he secured a position as office boy in a contractor's office. Before coming west he had been occupied as a clerk in country stores in different places, but since 1875 has been the credit man in Marshall Field & Co.'s wholesale dry goods house. He has been something of a traveler, having visited Europe and been all through the state of California. He is a Congregationalist, and a trustee in the First church of that denomination in Evanston, and he is a republican in politics. He belongs to the Evanston, Country, and several literary clubs in Evanston, and to the Sunset Club of Chicago. Mr. Kimball was married to Susie U. Woodford, and has four children - Leonice W., Harlow M., Edwin and Ruth M. Mrs. Kimball is a descendant of Paul Revere.
