IVES, HARRY C. — Born June 25, 1852, at Newark, N. J. He received his education at Rutger’s College at New Brunswick,
N. J. Entered railway service in 1871 in the engineering and operaling department of the Northern Pacific railway,
where he remained four years. During the two years following he was employed in the operating and auditing department
of the Missouri Pacific road, after which he served one year in the auditing department of the Minneapolis &
St. Louis road. He then became connected with the Great Northern railway, and was for eleven years in the operating
department of that road and its auxiliary lines. He left this position to become division superintendent of the
Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe road, where after two and a half years’ service he was promoted to the office of
purchasing agent, and in March, 1893, was appointed assistant to the first vice-president, which positibn he now
holds. Mr. Ives was married Nov. 14, 1877, at Minneapolis, Minn.
