GEORGE M. HESTER, agent and operator for C., St L. &. P. R. R., came to Cook Coonty in 1868. Locating at
what is now known as Burlington Crossing, he was agent and operator for the Great Eastern Railroad, afterward served
in same capacity for Pan-Handle route, and after that for thc C., St. L. & P. R. R. He remained at Burlington
Crossing seven and one-half years, then came to his present position. He was born in Winamac, Ind., January 22,
1842. In 1847 his parents moved to Logansport, Ind., where he was raised, He enlisted in 1863 in Company F, 12th
indiana Cavalry, as a private; was promoted to Sergeant, and mustered out in July, 1865. He was married April 20,
1868. to Miss Amanda H. Crosby, of Logansport, Ind. They have four children living and two deceased Kattiw M. (deceased).
Minnie M., George M. (deceased), ida M. Carrie M. and Willie M. Mr. Hester is a member of the I. O. O. F.
