DUNNE, MICHAEL J. - Born in Ireland, Oct. 1, 1839. Son of William and Anne Dunne. His father came to America
and settled in Chicago in 1850. Subject of sketch was educated at the University of St. Mary's of the Lake. He
took up the study of law, and began practice in 1865. He served in the army as an officer from 1862 to 1865. He
has held a number of positions of honor, having been in the State legislature for two terms, member of the board
of education for two terms, and attorney for that board for one year. He is a mem0 ber of the Royal Arcanum and
of the Hyde Park and Monticello clubs, and is president of the latter organization. Mr. Dunne was married in 1872
to Ellen McShane, of Montreal, sister of the late mayor of that city, and has a family of four children.
