H. P. DALY was born in Quebec. Canada, December 13, 1843. From 1857 to 1860 he was engaged in the lumber trade
with Le Masurier. Tilestone & Co.. when he went to New York City and was employed as bookkeeper in the linen
department of the house of A. T. Stewart. In 1866 he came to Chicago and went into the employ of Field. Palmer
& Leiter up to 1868. when he became bookkeeper for J. V. Farwell & Co. up to 1875. He then went into the
dyeing business on Fifth Avenue, Chicago, as firm of Ran & Co. for two years. In 1879 he was employed as bookkeeper
for the Exposition. and since 1880 has been assistant secretary of the same. Mr. Daly hae resided in Rogers Park
since May. 1875. He was married to Miss Mary Slater. of New York City, April 11, 1866. They have five children
- Catharine, Edward B., Caroline. Henry and Mary, and one deceased, Ruth.
