BROWN, GEORGE M. - Born at New Athens, Ohio, 1842. Son of Joseph and Eliza Brown. His father was a native of
County Down, Ireland; his mother of Scotch descent. The foemer came to this country at the age of 10, and died
in 1891, at the age of 83 years. His mother was born in Baltimore. Subject came to Chicago in 1859. Was educated
in the common schools of Ohio, and reared on a farm. For twelve years was engineer on the Santa Fe railroad. Has
been manager of the Mills and Spofford estate for five years in Chicago. In religion, a Methodist; in politics,
a demo crat. Flas been extensi ely engaged in real estate in Chicago, and ranks as a Master Mason. Mr Brown has
the distinction of having been one of the first engineers on the Santa Fe railroad.
