ELIJAH A. ALLEN, farmer. was born in Windsor County, Vt., in 1818. son of Elijah and Anna Allen. He came to
Cook County in 1847, located in the town of Wheeling, on a farm in Section 81, Township 42, Range 11, where he
resided for twelve years, when he moved to the village, where he has since resided. He owns a fine residence and
three acres of land on Euclid Avenue. He was married in 1847 to Miss Lydia T. Sawyer, daughter of Edward and Jane
Sawyer. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church; he has been one of its trustees and elders since its organization.
Mrs. Allen was one of the original members at the organization of the Church. Mr. Allen is an active temperance
man. He has held various town offices, and is active in the educational interests of the town, having served many
years on the school board.
