Frank W. Heitmann, well known as a successful farmer and stock raiser of Hartford township, is a native of Iowa
county. He was born in Pilot township on the 14th of May, 1880, of the marriage of A. J. and Katherine Heitmann,
an account of whose lives is found elsewhere in this work. He received a good common school education and when
seventeen years of age began working as a hired hand. Later he rented a farm, which he operated for ten years,
and then bought two hundred acres of land on section 33, Hartford township. His farm is excellently improved and
he derives therefrom a good income, specializing in raising and feeding hogs and cattle.
In 1910 Mr. Heitmann married Miss Laura Conrad, who was born in this county and is a daughter of Christ and Mary
Conrad, further mention of whom is made on another page of this work. Mr. and Mrs. Heitmann have two children,
Mary F. and Harry M.
Mr. Heitmann has supported the democratic party since age conferred upon him the right of franchise and has been
elected to office by his fellow citizens. He has served as township clerk and is now township trustee. His dominant
characteristics are energy, determination and progressiveness, and these traits insure his continued success and
prosperity.
