E. O. SULLIVAN.
E. O. Sullivan, manager at Vallejo of the local affairs there of the National Ice Company of San Francisco, is
a native of Ireland but has been a resident of this country since the days of his boyhood. Mr. Sullivan was born
on November 5, 1858, and is a son of E. O. and Margaret (Nolan) Sullivan, both also natives of the Emerald Isle,
who spent all their lives there.
When sixteen years of age, in 1874, the junior E. O. Sullivan left his native land and came to California, entering
in that year St. Mary's College at San Francisco and was in attendance at that institution for something more than
three years or until in 1878. He supplemented the schooling he received there by a course in Heald's Business College
and then went into the mining fields in Mono county, where he remained for something more than two years, at the
end of which time he went to Virginia City, Nevada, where he became well established and in which place he remained
until in 1891, when he closed out his affairs there and returned to San Francisco. Not long after his return to
the city Mr. Sullivan was appointed deputy sheriff in and for that city and county and was thus engaged for two
years or until in 1894, when he became connected with the operations of the National Ice Company of San Francisco,
a concern with which he ever since has been connected, this relation now having been maintained for more than thirty
years, during which time he has become one of the widely known figures in the ice trade throughout this section.
In 1914, when the National Ice Company established its present branch at Vallejo, Mr. Sullivan was made manager
of that branch and has since been serving the company in that capacity.
Mr. Sullivan married Miss Catherine Weir, who was born in Sacramento county, this state, and who died at her home
in San Francisco in 1907. He is a member of the Roman Catholic church and is affiliated with the local council
of the Knights of Columbus. His political affiliations are with the democratic party.
