Charles Silva, a well known young automobile mechanic at Vallejo and proprietor of a well equipped service plant
there, was born in the city of Reno, Nevada, November 4, 1892, and is a son of John and Mary Silva, who are now
living on a ranch in that state. Leaving high school when seventeen years of age, Charles Silva became employed
as an automobile mechanic in Nevada and was for five years thus engaged there, becoming proficient in his trade.
He then started out as a journeyman mechanic, with special reference to the mechanics of the automobile industry,
and came to California, finding ready employment at his trade in Los Angeles. He later went to Oregon and was for
some time employed along similar lines in that state, presently returning to California, in which state he since
has made his home. In 1921 Mr. Silva became employed in the plant of the local Buick agency at Vallejo and has
since been a resident of that city. He remained with the Buick people, becoming an expert in Buick service operations,
until in May, 1924, when he became engaged in business on his own account, in that year opening his present well
equipped service establishment at 317 Margin street, where he is prepared to take care of any demands that may
be made for service by the automobile owners of this section. Though making a specialty of Buick service, Mr. Silva
is equipped to handle all makes of cars and has built up a fine business. He is an active member of the Machinists
Union and has the reputation of being a thorough mechanic.
In 1912, at Reno, Nevada, Charles Silva was united in marriage to Miss Gussie R. Rogers, daughter of Louis Rogers,
of Los Angeles, and they have one child, a daughter, Kathleen. Mr. and Mrs. Silva have a pleasant home at Vallejo
and have become well established there.
