MARCUS E. PARR.
Marcus E. Parr, a leading business man of Fairfield, is a native of this state, having been born in San Francisco
on the 18th of March, 1881, a son of W. J. and Margaret' (O'Hara) Parr, the latter of whom was a native of Ireland
and is now deceased. Both came to California in their childhood and were reared and married here. Marcus E. Parr
received his educational training in the public schools of his native city, and he was subsequently employed in
lumber camps and sawmills for about eleven years. He then worked on the cattle ranges of Modoc county as a rider
until the Spanish-American war, when he enlisted in the Eleventh California Regiment of Infantry, with which he
went to the Philippine islands. After three years of active service in the army, Mr. Parr returned to California
and took up the trade of an electrician, to which he has since devoted his attention. In 1919 he came to Fairfield
and established himself in business as an electrical contractor, and he has met with eminent success, for he is
a good workman, thoroughly understands all the details of electrical wiring and construction and has proven himself
a reliable and trustworthy business man. He has a well stocked shop of all kinds of electrical goods, well displayed,
and enjoys a splendid trade.
Mr. Parr was married to Miss Violet E. Fisher, a native of this state, and they are the parents of the following
children: Cecil, who is assisting his father in the business; and Melvin, Margaret, David, Gerald and Madee. Politically
Mr. Parr is not bound by party ties, voting according to the dictates of his judgment as to men and measures. Fraternally
he is a member of the Maccabees and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, as well as the Lions Club and the Firemen's
Club. He takes a commendable interest in the public affairs of his community and is now serving his first term
on the board of city trustees, proving himself a competent and efficient member of that body.
