ELLIE J. MULLEN.
In the person of Ellie J. Mullen of the firm of Mullen & Glikbarg, proprietors of a well equipped garage and
dealers in automobiles at Benicia, that progressive and flourishing little city on the bay enjoys the distinction
of having numbered among its business men the youngest authorized Ford dealer in the United States. Mr. Mullen
is a native son of Solano county and his interests ever have centered here. He was born in the pleasant village
of Suisun on July 23, 1904, and is a son of J. J. and Alice (Marion) Mullen, the latter of whom was born in Kentucky.
Reared at Suisun, Ellie J. Mullen was graduated from the high school there in 1922. Meanwhile during vacation periods
he had become a quite competent automobile mechanic and upon leaving school he became employed in the Ford garage
operated at Vallejo by J. L. Glikbarg and was thus engaged until, in partnership with Mr. Glikbarg, he became engaged
in business on his own account at Benicia, the two operating there under the firm name of Mullen & Glikbarg,
with a well equipped and admirably appointed garage and sales room at 925 First street. This firm makes a specialty
of the sale of Ford automobiles, distributors of that popular machine in the fine trade area centering at Benicia,
and, as noted above, Mr. Mullen was the youngest authorized Ford dealer in the United States at the time he entered
into that relation with the Ford Motor Company. He is an alert, energetic young business man and since taking up
his residence at Benicia has earned for himself a fixed place in the regard of the community. He is a member of
the Order of DeMolay for Boys, a junior fraternity under the sponsorship of the Masonic order, and of the junior
order of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Vallejo, and is also affiliated with the local tribe of the Improved
Order of Red Men at Benicia.
