J. L. MAUREGARD.
J. L. Mauregard, founder and head of the business carried on at Vallejo under the name of the Louisiana Steam Laundry,
is an experienced laundryman and one of the enterprising and progressive business men of that city. He is a native
of France but has been a resident of this country since the days of his childhood. Mr. Mauregard was born January
1, 1883, and is a son of John and Marguerite Mauregard. The father died in 1885 and the mother came to California
with her son in 1893, locating at Sebastopol in the neighboring county of Sonoma.
J. L. Mauregard was but ten years of age when he came with his widowed mother to California. He finished his schooling
at Sebastopol and there early was employed in a local laundry, becoming thoroughly familiar with laundry processes
and operations, and he has ever since followed that line. In 1917 he embarked in the laundry business at Vallejo,
there opening the plant which has since been developed into the up to date and well equipped establishment known
as the Louisiana Steam Laundry, and in this business, since March, 1924, he has had as a partner, B. Bordenave.
Upon starting in business at Vallejo Mr. Mauregard had his plant at No. 318 Louisiana street, but he presently
found larger quarters necessary and he then erected his present plant at No. 38 Tennessee street, which he equipped
with modern machinery and which was opened for business in January, 1922. This establishment employs about fifteen
persons and has two light automobile trucks in service.
Mr. Mauregard has been twice married, and by his first wife, Mrs. Madelene Mauregard, who died in 1909, he has
a son, Lucien. In 1911 he married Miss Marie Lartigan, and to the latter union two children have been born: Lincoln
and Marguerite. Mr. and Mrs. Mauregard are republicans and are interested in general community affairs. Mr. Mauregard
is a member of the local tribe of the Improved Order of Red Men.
