THOMAS VANCE GRANT.
Thomas Vance Grant, a veteran of the World war with an overseas record, is one of the well known factors in the
automobile trade at Vallejo, being the distributor in Solano county for the Paige, Jewett and Reo automobiles,
with a modern establishment at No. 220 Virginia street. He was born in the city of Knoxville, Knox county, Tennessee,
October 14, 1892, and is a son of K. M. and Julia (Shope) Grant, who are still living there, where the father is
engaged in business.
Thomas V. Grant was reared in Tennessee and received a high school education. He became a traveling salesman for
a concern engaged in the distribution of general machinery and supplies, his territory covering the middle western
states, and he was thus occupied when this country entered the World war. Mr. Grant enlisted in the army and was
attached to the One Hundred and Seventeenth Regiment of Infantry in the American Expeditionary Forces, being first
sergeant in the company to which he was assigned. He was in France for eight months, a part of which time he spent
in a hospital, severely ill with pneumonia. In 1922 Mr. Grant came to California and was employed as a salesman
in the Acme garage at Vallejo. He subsequently transferred his services to the Ford agency in Benicia and was there
until May, 1924, when he returned to Vallejo and embarked in business there on his own account. In addition to
the cars he handles in this territory he also carries a general line of supplies and accessories, and his energetic
efforts are being well rewarded.
Mr. Grant was united in marriage to Miss Ava C. Carter, a native of Indiana. They are republicans in politics and
interest themselves in the county's general civic activities.
