THOMAS R. CREELY, D. V. S.
One of the foremost veterinarians of the state of California is Dr. Thomas R. Creely, owner of the T. R. Creely Dog & Cat Hospital at 3170 Sacramento street in San Francisco, one of the best known and patronized institutions of its kind on the coast. Dr. Creely was born in San Francisco, March 16, 1884, and is a son of the late James and Margaret (McCarthy) Creely; he is one of two survivors of a family of seven children. James Creely was born in Stockton, California, and was brought to San Francisco by his parents when he was only a small boy. For many years during his later life, he had one of the largest horseshoeing shops in San Francisco. His wife was also born in Stockton. Both are now deceased.

Dr. Creely attended the Lincoln grammar school, and also completed a high school course by graduation. He then took up the study of veterinary surgery at the San Francisco University, and received the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Surgery. He has practiced his profession in his native city since the year he received his diploma, and has created a professional position for himself far beyond the ordinary. His hospital for small animals, considered one of the best appointed and successful in California, was established by him in 1910. He possesses a natural love for animals, which has inspired the fine work he has done, and has been responsible to a large degree for his outstanding success. He has been much interested in other affairs connected with animals, and through his efforts the National Horse Show was twice brought to San Francisco, in 1928 and 1929, both of which exhibitions were record breakers for the United States. Dr. Creely also organized the Del Monte Kennel Club, which is the only international club in California. He has also been active in civic affairs, and has been president of the Presidio Improvement Club for the past six years.

On October 25, 1906, Dr. Creely was married to Miss Julia LMeham, a native daughter of San Francisco. Her father was a pioneer of California, and was the owner of the old Green Valley dairy.

Dr. Creely is a republican in his political affiliation, and at present is a member of the local fire commission. He is generally recognized as a progressive citizen in every meaning of the term, and he holds the confidence and esteem of all with whom he has come in contact during his successful career.
