FRANK J. SOARES.
Among the strong and influential citizens of Napa county, the record of whose lives has become an essential part of the recent history of this locality, is the gentleman whose name appears above. His chief characteristics are keenness of perception, honesty of purpose and every day common sense, because of which qualities he has gained the good will and commendation of all who know him. Frank J. Soares, the able and efficient secretary and manager of the Napa County Title Company, was born in Suisun Valley, Solano county, on the 29th day of August, 1895, and is the son of Manuel and Ermelinda (Costa) Soares, both of whom were born in the Azores Islands. The father was brought to this country in his childhood by his parents, the family locating first in Massachusetts. Manuel Soares lived there until about twenty years of age, when he came to California, where he has lived continuously since, and is now residing in Fairfield. His wife, who also was brought to this country by her parents, met and was married to Mr. Soares in this state.

Frank J. Soares attended the public schools of Fairfield, to which place the family moved when he was a child, and after graduating from the high school he entered the employ of the Wells Fargo Express Company, with which he remained about two and a half years. He then entered the office of the J. B. Griffiths Abstract and Title Company at Fairfield, and was there employed when the United States entered the World war. He at once enlisted for service in the infantry and was sent overseas, spending twenty two months in France and returning home with the rank of second lieutenant. On returning to civil life Mr. Soares joined the Napa County Abstract Company, which was later absorbed by the Napa County Title Company, which also bought out the Guarantee Abstract Company. Mr. Soares was one of the organizers of the new company and was chosen secretary and manager of the same. He is admirably qualified for these responsible positions and has so conducted the affairs of the company as to earn the approval and commendation of the stockholders, as well as the good will of all who have had dealings with the company.

Mr. Soares married Miss Geraldine Gibb, who was born and reared in Napa, daughter of Frank B. Gibb, and they have a son, Eugene Soares. Mr. Soares is an ardent republican. He is a past exalted ruler of Napa Lodge No. 832, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and is also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Knights of Columbus, the Native Sons of the Golden West, the American Legion and the Napa Kiwanis Club. He has been an indefatigable worker in the interests of the business which he represents and which he is managing with commendable ability and, because of his success, his strength of character and his genial disposition he has won a host of friends throughout this community.
