Daniel Madigan, a prominent and successful farmer and stock raiser, located on the state highway in Napa county,
was born in San Francisco on the 12th of February, 1870, and is a son of John and Hanora (Lawlor) Madigan. Both
parents were natives of Ireland, whence they immigrated to the United States, being married in Washington, D. C.
In 1867 they came to California and located first in San Francisco but later went to Vallejo, where Mr. Madigan
was engaged in the construction of Lake Chabot, an artificial body of water. He then was occupied in ranching in
Napa county, farming a large tract of land. His death occurred_ in 1923, while his wife had passed away in 1894.
Daniel Madigan secured his education in the public schools of Vallejo. He was then employed on farms in that vicinity
and eventually engaged in farming on his own account, first renting land but later buying four hundred and twenty
acres, which he has developed into a fine ranch. He is extensively engaged in stock raising, having large numbers
of cattle and sheep, and his indefatigable industry and persistent efforts have been rewarded with an excellent
measure of success. In 1917 Mr. Madigan built a fine and attractive home, modern in every respect.
Mr. Madigan was married to Miss Mary Walsh, and they became the parents of the following children: Daniel Louis,
John, Francis, Leo, deceased, Eleanor, James and Edward. Politically Mr. Madigan has always given his support to
the democratic party, and he has ever manifested an interest in public affairs. He is a member of the Young Men's
Institute and is a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. His religious affiliation is with the Catholic
church. Mr. Madigan is a lover of race horses and is a keen sportsman, being very fond of hunting, in which he
