JOHN WESLEY GLOVER.
John Wesley Glover, a prominent and well known citizen of Napa, has led an eminently honorable and useful life
and has achieved a marked degree of success in his chosen vocation, while at the same time he has benefited the
community with which he is identified.
Mr. Glover was born in Springfield, Missouri, on the 21st of August, 1879. He is a son of Joseph Milton and Elizabeth
(Case) Glover, the former of whom was for many years engaged in the transfer business but is now retired from active
business life. John W. Glover received his education in the public schools of his native city and then for a time,
was associated with his father in the transfer business, remaining so engaged until 1903. On October 21 of that
year he arrived in Napa, and during the following two years he was employed in the cement works at Napa Junction.
In 1906 he embarked in the transfer business in a modest way, his equipment at that time comprising a team of horses
and a wagon. The business grew gradually and steadily during the subsequent years, and now Mr. Glover runs five
auto trucks and employs five men, commanding his full share of the local patronage in his line. He also owns a
storage warehouse. In all his ventures since coming here he has met with splendid success, and he is numbered among
the progressive and enterprising business men of this city.
Mr. Glover was married to Miss Minnie A. Trissel, who also is a native of Missouri, and they are the parents of
four children, namely Max O., the only one of the children born in Missouri, who is now associated with his father
in business; and Mildred, Ralph and Doris. Politically the republican party receives Mr. Glover's earnest support,
as do all measures advanced for the betterment of the community in any way. He is a member of the Independent Order
of Odd Fellows, the Modern Woodmen of America, the Royal Neighbors and the Daughters of Rebekah. Though quiet and
unassuming, he possesses the qualities which commend one to the good favor of his fellowmen.
