LOUIS F. BURCH.
Louis F. Burch, of the firm of Burch Brothers, engaged in the nursery business at Napa, is a man of sound principles,
good judgment and indomitable energy. He is a native of the county now honored by his residence and was born in
Napa on the 20th of May, 1892, a son of Louis and Amelia (Husmann) Burch, who came to California in early life
and were married here.
Louis F. Burch received his education in the public schools of Napa, graduating from the high school in 1907. His
first employment after completing his studies was in a drug store, and he later went to work in the chemical department
of the Cement Works. In the meantime his attention was attracted to the nursery business, in which he became deeply
interested, and in 1917, in partnership with his brother, John H. Burch, he embarked in that business. They lease
twenty five acres of land, on which they raise their nursery stock, specializing in the fruit trees best adapted
to Napa county, also handling ornamental rose bushes and shrubbery. They have devoted themselves earnestly to the
building up of their business, and the success which has crowned their efforts has been richly deserved. The principal
field for their products is in Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties, where their nursery stock has gained a splendid
reputation among those competent to judge.
Louis F. Burch was married to Miss Dorothy M. Petraske, and they are the parents of two children, Dorothy L. and
Louis Frederick, Jr. Mr. Burch has been a lifelong supporter of the republican party and has been keenly interested
in all public improvement measures. Fraternally he is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in which
he has passed through the chairs of the subordinate lodge, canton and encampment, and he is also a member of the
Native Sons of the Golden West.
