CHARLES F. BROOKS, D. O.
Among the eminently successful professional men and public spirited citizens of Napa, none takes precedence over Dr. Charles F. Brooks, the efficient and well known optometrist in the Hippedrome Theatre building. Doctor Brooks is a native son of California, having been born in an Francisco on the 17th day of September, 1895. He received his elemental education in the public schools of his native city and then entered the California College of Optometry, where he was graduated in 1918, with the degree of Doctor of Optics.

Upon receiving his diploma Dr. Brooks located in Vallejo, where he practiced for three years, but in 1921 came to Napa and has remained here continuously since, building up a large and remunerative clientele and gaining a splendid and well earned reputation as a reliable and efficient optometrist. He has entered fully into the activities of the community and is a popular member of the circles in which he moves. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Napa Golf and Country Club, the Napa Chamber of Commerce and the Napa lodge of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. Professionally, he is a member of the North of Bay Counties Optometrist Association, of which he is president; the San Francisco Academy of Optometrists and the San Francisco Optometrist Association.

Doctor Brooks married Miss Myrtle Bredehoft, who also was born and reared in San Francisco, and they have two sons, Raymond C. and Wallace F. The Doctor is justifiably proud of the pioneer blood which flows in his veins, for he is a representative of the third generation of his family in this state. His grandparents came to California in pioneer days and both of his parents were born in San Francisco. Thus his family history in this state covers practically the history of the state from the days of the pioneers. Doctor Brooks is deeply interested in the welfare of the community in which he lives and since coming here has earnestly supported every proposed measure for the betterment of the public welfare. Because of his success and his fine personal qualities he enjoys a well deserved popularity throughout his wide circle of acquaintances.
