Those who by their persistent endeavor and indomitable energy forge upward from humble beginnings and attain the
ranks of the successful and progressive men of their community are the ones who make the real history of that locality.
In this class is Charles Breuer, who is one of the leading general contractors of the Napa valley and who has gained
not only material success but also the respect of all who know him.
Mr. Breuer was born in Oakland, California, on the 9th of December, 1887, and is a son of Henry E. and Annie (Reimers)
Breuer. When he was but a child he lost his father by death, and he was reared by his widowed mother, who now lives
in Napa. He received his educational training in the public schools of Oakland, Santa Cruz and Napa and subsequently
worked at various occupations. He then learned the carpenter's trade. Since 1903 he has resided continuously in
Napa. For a number of years he was employed by Coffield & Simpson, contractors, in that city, and about 1920
he embarked in the contracting business on his own account. During the subsequent years he has erected a number
of good houses in this locality and has gained a fine record as a reliable and painstaking workman, doing well
whatever he undertakes. He is fair and square, and all who have dealt with him in a business way are profuse in
their commendation of his integrity and sound business methods.
Politically Mr. Breuer gives his earnest support to the republican party, and he takes a good citizen's interest
in the welfare and prosperity of the community, supporting all measures for the public good. He is a man of excellent
social qualities and is extremely popular in the circles in which he moves.
