William McCausland. Born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, September 25, 1828. When about seven years of age
he moved to Huntington and afterwards to Franklin county in that State, in which last mentioned place he received
his education, In 1853 he started with his brother James for California, arriving in San Francisco March 5th of
that year, On landing he proceeded to the mines in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties, where they remained until 1855,
and then came to Stony Point; Sonoma county, where he commenced farming. In the year 1858 he was engaged in teaming,
but in the following year settled in Margin, locating on the farm where his brother now resides, In October, 1874,
he took possession of the farm upon which he now resides His portrait appears in the body of this work.
