Solomon Ephraim. The subject of this sketch was born in Posen, Prussia, on January 6, 1852. He was educated
in his native country, receiving a collegiate course. In the year 1871 he emigrated to California, arriving in
San Francisco in June of that year. He came to Marin county in 1874 and settled in Tomales, where he was employed
in the store of E. H. Kowalsky, remaining till 1877, when he, in company with Henry I. Kowalsky, went into business
at Marshall, Marin county. This partnership lasted bill the interest of H. I. Kowalsky was purchased by his brother,
E. H. Kowalsky, and the business is now conducted by this firm, known as Ephraim & Kowaisky. They are engaged
in general merchandising, and are shippers of produce to San Francisco.
