KELSEY, JOHN. Was born in Kentucky, July 17, 1819. At the age of eighteen he went to Tennessee, where he engaged
as apprentice to the gunsmith trade for four years. We next find him in Ray County, Missouri, where gunsmithing
was followed until 1867, when he was elected to the position of County Treasurer, which office he held for six
years. In 1873 he came to California, and to Lake County, settling in Kelseyville, where he still continues to
reside. Mr. Kelsey married, in 1839, Miss Emma Jones, a native of Tennessee. Their children are, William, Alvin,
Solomon and Linnia A.
