AUGUSTE SAUDOZ is one of the enterprising and public spirited citizens of Cummings valley. He was born in Switzerland, April 5, 1847, and was there educated and reared as a farmer and stock raiser. In 1868 he came to America; he lived first in Illinois, later in Kansas, and in 1875 came to California. After residing two years in Los Angeles, he came to Kern County, in 1877, and took up his abode in Cummings valley. Here he owns 480 acres of fine farming land, on which he produces excellent crops of grain.

While in Kansas, he married an American lady, and they have a family of nine children. Mr. Saudoz has a good education, and keeps himself well posted on the topics of the day. He has the ability to speak the French language in a most accurate and fluent manner, occasionally becoming quite eloquent. He is one of the most prosperous farmers in this beautiful valley, and is highly esteemed by his fellow citizens.
