STUART W. FRENCH. General Manager of the Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company, has been associated with
the Company since 1899, when he came to Bisbee to accept a position as Assistant Superintendent. Mr. French was
born in Dansville, N. Y., in 1867, and is the son of B. W. and Martha Brown French. Most of his early life was
spent in Chicago, however, where his father was General Manager of one of the large Insurance Companies. In Chicago
Mr. French attended the public schools, and prepared in the High School for admission to Amherst College, from
which he was graduated in 1889. He returned then to Chicago and took a position with the Home Fire Insurance Company.
Later he established a local and general agency of his own, and in partnership with others was engaged in the insurance
business until he came to Arizona. In 1904, when a change was instituted in the organization of the Copper Queen
Consolidated Mining Company, Mr. French was made Assistant General Manager, and in 1910 was promoted to his present
position. He is also an officer and director in the Improvement Companies of Bisbee and Douglas, and was one of
the organizers and first President of the Douglas Country Club. While the interests of the Copper Queen demand
his attention at both Bisbee and Douglas, Mr. French makes his home at the latter city, where both he and Mrs.
French, formerly Miss Helen Stevison, take an active part in the life of the community.
