NORMAN CARMICHAEL, General Manager of the Arizona Copper Company, Ltd., Clifton, was born near Belfast, Ireland,
in 18b9. He was educated in his native city and lived there until twenty one years of age, when he came to the
United States and became engaged in engineering. In 1895 he adopted the profession of mining engineering, and for
some years afterward was employed handling mining properties in British Columbia. In 1905 he entered the employ
of the Arizona Copper Company as mine superintendent, after two years in this position was appointed to succeed
Alexander Vietch as Assistant General Manager. and subsequently was promoted to his present position. As General
Manager of the Arizona Copper Company, Mr. Carmichael holds an important place among mining men of Arizona, and
throughout the State is well known in mining circles, especially in the Clifton-Morenci District, where he makes
his home.
